Not Losing Weight – This is what is stopping you.

    Not Losing Weight
    alan KO

We’re creatures of habit.  We wake up, hit the alarm and hit auto-pilot.

First we have breakfast, then brush our teeth. Next get dressed, go to work, then at the end of the day come back home and back to bed it is. Then werepeat it all over again the next day.

Eating and exercising – getting fatter or losing weight — it all boils down to the same thing:  Habits.

That is how we are wired. However, we have a choice: use habits to our advantage if we channel them properly or simply let them take us the wrong way.

In other words, when it comes to food, Good Habits make us loose weight, and Bad Habits will make us fat.

Good Habits help us get the things we want quicker. Additionally it makes achieving our goals possible. However for habits to work, we must take an honest look at what we are doing.

Understanding what is our biggest food weakness.

    Is it:

    • – Overeating at meal times
    • – Going without food for hours and then binge eating
    • – Snacking between meals
    • – Getting bored late in the evening before raiding the kitchen
    • – Opening the ice-cream and eating it all in one seating
    • – Being a night time feeder
    • -Raiding the fridge over and over again
    • – Start one cookie and finish the pack
    • -Having a bowl of cereal, Then another and another
    • -Eating when being bored in the evenings, watching TV or surfing the Internet.

These are classic BAD Eating Habits.  The problem is these bad habits we do without even thinking about it. We do them on auto-pilot. Only to regret it afterwards.

There are plenty more bad habits out there. But if we can identify our biggest weakness we will be on the winning track to losing weight.

If you are not losing weight and want to change it, this is what must be done:

Think long and hard (and be honest).

    1.- What is your weakness?

    2. -What is your Achilles heel?

    3.- Isolate it.

    4.- Zone in on it.

Then replace it with a better habit or cut it out completely – good things will start to happen to you.

You will begin losing weight, see results over a short period of time, and begin living a longer, healthier and leaner life.  And that’s your task.

Finally, not losing weight is not an option. Do it now!

  • Overeating at Christmas – Tips to Avoid It

Overeating at Christmas – Tips and Tricks to Avoid Doing It.

When Christmas is approaching, you might be concerned about overeating and gaining weight. If you are trying to maintain your weight at this time of year, these tips are very helpful.

    Eat Something Beforehand

A common trick that many people use when they don’t’ want to overeat is to eat beforehand. This may seem silly since you are heading to Christmas dinner. The point however, isn’t to eat an entire meal, then eat a second meal when you arrive. What you are trying to do is eat a small healthy meal or snack instead. Not only you will be full, but you know you had something good. When you arrive for Christmas dinner, you will only eat a small amount because you are slightly full. Therefore your cravings won’t be as bad, and you won’t overindulge. With a plan, overeating at Christmas can be avoided.

    Count Plates, Not Calories

Instead of trying to count the calories, grams of fat, or carbohydrates of each food item you choose, just count the number of plates. Give yourself just one plate to enjoy Christmas dinner on, including the dessert. That means only a certain amount of the plate should be filled up with food, leaving an empty portion for the dessert that will come later. Fill the rest of the plate with anything you want, and don’t go for seconds. Be prepared so overeating at Christmas doesn’t happen.

Go For the Healthy Stuff First

Whether you are enjoying appetizers at a buffet table or choosing food at Christmas dinner, try to fill up your plate with the healthier food options first. Get a portion size of ham or turkey, then make up the rest of the plate with the healthier veggies. If there is any more room on your plate, you can then add the less healthy options like mashed potatoes or stuffing, but these should only be a very small portion of what you will be eating.

When you are trying not to overeat, denying yourself something rarely works. A better method is to use these tips, and have a bite of everything. If you want to try everything, don’t pile up your plate, but add a bite of two of each food item, enjoy them, and then don’t let yourself have seconds.

Avoid overeating at Christmas, prepare ahead!.

It’s a treat. It’s something that signifies family, fun, joy, celebrations. The wrong dessert after dinner can undo your hard work all day long. Don’t skip it, though; just choose something that’s a bit more figure friendly. Here are some simple low calorie desserts ideas..

    Low CalorieFruit

Fruit is known as nature’s candy. A bowl of fruit, as in a fruit salad or fruit cocktail, can be very satisfying as options for low calorie desserts with variety. A fruit smoothie can be filling and remind you of a milkshake. Fruit and yogurt dip can feel decadent.

You can even melt just a little bit of dark chocolate and dip a few strawberries for a great treat that delivers a heavenly experience for the taste buds. You could also bake some apples with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon on them (go easy on the sugar). It’s like apple pie without the crust.

    Tweaked Baking Recipes

When you bake a boxed cake mix you can often see cholesterol or calorie lowering tips that could include: reducing eggs, using water instead of milk, using apple sauce or some other liquid instead of butter, and reducing specific ingredients such as sugar, butter, and oil. You could, conceivably, trim a big chunk off a baking recipe if you get the right advice (Tip: don’t dabble without advice unless you’re willing to experience the occasional recipe flop!). Keep portions to a minimum with baked goods and you can enjoy them once in a while.

    Yogurt

Frozen yogurt, low fat yogurt with fruit, a yogurt parfait with fruit and a bit of granola are all great low fat, healthy snacks for weight loss. Do watch sugar content, though.

    Jell-O

Gelatin desserts aren’t too calorie laden and can be a low calorie dessert idea. You can buy light whipped topping if you want it to feel extra decadent.

    Pudding

Pudding can also be low calorie desserts. Making pudding with skim milk instead of full fat milk, for example, can help you trim calories. Again, portion control is important. You might also opt for a low fat pudding pop for a sweet treat that takes a while to eat (resulting in keeping you satisfied longer).

Consequently, keep a variety of Low Calorie Desserts in stock, hence you will keep your diet on track.
